How To: Make Your Own Christmas Crackers

With Christmas just around the corner, we thought it would be fitting to include a Christmas Craft that anyone in the family can do. Christmas Crackers have been around for over 150 years and are an integral tradition at many families’ Christmas Dinners. Making your own Christmas Crackers is inexpensive, easy to do and a bit of Christmas fun!

You Will Need:

–          Tissue Paper
–          Wrapping Paper
–          Empty Toilet Paper Rolls
–          Cracker Snap (See Note)
–          Double-sided Tape
–          Ribbon
–          Small Treats or Gifts

  1. Cut a piece of Tissue Paper & Wrapping Paper to A4 size. Place an Empty Toilet Paper Roll along the long edge of the Tissue Paper and roll up. Secure with Double-sided Tape. Repeat with the Wrapping Paper.
  2. Place a Cracker Snap through the centre of the Toilet Roll. Pinch one end and secure with Ribbon.
  3. Place a Treat, Gift, Paper Hat or any Trinkets that fit inside the tube. Pinch and secure the open end with Ribbon

Note: Cracker Snaps are the thin strips of cardboard that create the cracking sound when you pull on a Christmas Cracker. They are inexpensive and can be purchased online or at select craft stores.
