The client designed this hacienda-style custom home as the culmination of a lifelong dream. Custom built on acreage at Chandler, the couple had previously lived in a small, ramshackle dwelling on the property while they designed and waited to build their dream home.
This highly personal design provides 680 metres of living space under curved ceilings up to five metres high in the kitchen and living room. The ceilings incorporate recycled timber beams and the cantina features exposed block walls.
Exceptional finishes and detailed touches made this a specialised build. The roof tiles alone had to be shipped in from multiple locations outside Queensland. Every window required custom timber joinery, and the curved architrave inside was also custom made, as were the feature plaster ceilings. Even the render on the outside of the house was not typical.
The resulting Mediterranean look fulfilled the client’s dream, right down to his specifications for the stonework around the fireplace and the cobblestone paving.
The client has since sold the property and we are adding a pool and pool house.
